Home Decisions…

February 22, 2026

Filed in: Home

Ever had a major issue come up that felt a bit forced onto you… ? Like you didn’t ask for it but you still had to deal with it? I’m sure you have, after all that’s inevitable about life right? Things come up out of our control that we didn’t plan on. Well that’s kinda what happened to us when it came to a special project on our home. A project that has summoned us to make big home decisions.

We found out a few years back that we we’re facing some settling problems. Fast forward to now, and we are in the thick of moving forward with a foundation repair. Agh! I hate to even write it out. It’s one of those things you hope never happens to your home and that you don’t want to have to spend hard earned money on. We’d all much rather invest in upgrades not sync back into what we thought we already had put good effort to.

At times even when we think we checked all the boxes and made the right moves we still have to experience something hard and not ideal. When this happens all you can do is the next best thing. Just taking action in a positive direction and continuing that route until you find your way through. It’s really as simple as that. When we look at massive pictures and cry about the could’ve, should’ve, would’ve, we just waste time. Sure there’s processing and proper planning that needs accounted for, but at the end of the day you can’t overthink things. Make a decision and move. You can always change direction if needed at any point. Where most people freeze in fear of decision making is when they think it has to be planned out perfect and not fail. The key word fail. Failure is good! That’s how you learn and grow. How you figure out what works and what doesn’t. So fail away! Guess what, no one cares that much. They’re all too busy with their own lives to judge you too hard about yours. Also, when you fail. You’ll learn pretty fast that life doesn’t care really either. It goes on! And thank goodness right?

Well here we are making decisions and moving forward the best we know how. Working daily to go the best next direction. Of course if you haven’t caught on by now, this topic is about more than a house repair. However, I’ve spent the winter discerning resources, considering estimates, and coordinating the proper course of action. I’ve also spent a lot of time reconciling with my style. Narrowing my options to suit my taste. Knowing what you prefer and need is important! Selections become much simpler with this type of awareness.

My style has always been very rugged. I love bringing in the outdoors. Nature’s design is my inspiration. With that being said I do love adding touches of shape and form in a beautiful quality that compliments a raw element. I’ve established an inspo board of colors and textures, materials and furnishings that speak to me. I’ve considered the needs of our family and preferences of usability and comfort too! We will begin the repair and follow through with a few renovations to update our home this year.

I used my new inspiration when creating my winter decor for the season. I made a swag for the entry that highlights simple rustic notes easy to pull together that make a thoughtful statement. With a big busy family I feel the need for keeping our style basic but that doesn’t mean it can’t be beautiful! Wish me luck as I embark on this new task. I will share some snips along the way and plan to offer our new porch in our property options when it’s finished. Hope this gets you thinking of your own style and tips from my lessons learned. Also, keep our place in mind as a private landscape for your next portraits!

Living for the most, Kasey
